Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rochester is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Our meals were all outstanding! The chicken parm was delicious, and the risotto dish was absolutely amazing! Dessert was also spectacular! This was our first time here, and we will be back soon!

The ricotta gnocchi with alfredo sauce was so good! I added chicken to it. The sauce was creamy and flavorful with garlic and onions—delicious. The merchants pizza was also pretty good. The skillet cookie was hot and gooey, perfect with ice cream, and the crème brûlée was really good. I think the indoor seating could use nicer atmosphere (or comfier chairs?) but the outdoor seating looks nice, it was just too full when we arrived. Overall great experience

I visited Merchants Wood Fired Pizza & Bistro expecting great pizza, but what I got instead was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Their ribeye was cooked to absolute perfection. The fat was beautifully rendered, there was zero connective tissue (clearly expertly trimmed), and every bite was tender and flavorful. It came out quickly, yet somehow tasted like it had been slow-cooked with care for hours ... all while still hitting a flawless medium rare. That’s not easy to pull off, and they nailed it. The seasoning enhanced the steak without overpowering it, letting the quality of the meat shine through. It was offered as a chef's special with a starch and vegetable, but honestly, I prefer to enjoy a steak on its own and this one absolutely stood on its own. I watched many pieces of art come from that kitchen as I spent my time here and it all smelled amazing! Beyond the food, the entire restaurant and staff had such a warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly vibe. It’s the kind of place you immediately feel comfortable in. You can tell the kitchen is being run with a high level of skill and attention to detail. I’ll definitely be back.

A perfect early evening on the patio under the vines! My group of 3 each enjoyed a speciality cocktail and meals! Pizza definitely can be shared but reheats nicely in the air fryer.

I liked this place. I've been meaning to check it out and was glad i did. I took my 16 year old daughter out for a rather quick and light dinner on a whim last Friday. It was a gorgeous night in June around 6:30 pm. The parking lot was full so I parked on the side street for free about a 1/2 block away. Outside seating was full and some larger parties had about a 10-15 min wait for inside but a table for two was ready so we took it inside. It was pretty busy but noise level was not an issue. Several servers were moving around at good speed and they all looked like they knew what they were doing. Our server was nice and knew the menu well, however we knew we only wanted to share a cheese pizza going in so that is what we ordered. The food came out pretty fast despite the busyness of the pace and it was pretty good. Not the BEST wood fired pizza I've ever had but def worth the 17.99 price point. The one lemonade and beer I ordered bumped the overall price up but I was happy with the food and the experience we got for what I paid. We were in and out in about 45 min which is what we wanted but could have easily stayed longer for sure, depending on what you want (inside, outside, drinks
